Simple yet refined… this vintage Cyma from the 1950’s has a black crosshair dial combined with a 18K pink gold case with crisp engine turned bezel. The domed plexi crystal gives this watch a ultra-vintage appearance. The Cyma watch brand was created as a brand name for Tavannes Watch co, a wel known watch manufacturer founded in 1891 from the village of Tavannes in the Swiss Jura Mountains. Cyma was one the the brands which started experimenting early with stock absorbing systems for the balance of watches, like the Cymaflex system. This watch features a very early form of a shock absorbing system.
Unfortunately the case has no gold hallmarks, but the case has been tested at an invisible place (using touchstone & testing acids) and tests positive for both 14 and 18 carat gold. Therefore this watch is sold as solid 18 carat gold, despite no gold hallmarks being present. Please see pictures for the results of the test.
