Omega Constellation “Pie Pan Dog Leg”

2.195

The Omega Constellation was has been the flagship model of the Omega collection for decades and the “Pie Pan Dog Leg” is perhaps one of the most iconic models of all vintage Constellations. The so called “pie-pan” dial recieved it’s nickname from the resemblance to an actual pie-pan being turned upside down. The design of this iconic 12-sided pie-pan dial was attributed to the famous watch desiger Gerald Genta, who also designed iconic watches like the Universal Geneve Polerouter, Patek Phillipe Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The lugs have an unusual shape, have a sharp knick and are facetted in many ways. This lug design was given the nickname “dog leg lugs” due to the resemblace with a dog’s rear leg. The watch is powered by the Omega cal. 561, an in-house, automatic movement with COSC chronometer certification. In the 1960’s Omega was the largest producer of COSC certified chronometers, even surpassing Rolex in the amount of watches submitted to the COSC.

CONDITION
The watch is in good condition. The case is probably unpolished and shows signs of wear. The dial is original and in very good condition with minor signs of aging, certainly no major discoloration, scratches or other damage. The crown is the original 10 sided crown which Omega only used on this model. The hands are in good condition and show some signs for aging, the tip of the second hand is missing. The crystal is original and has been polished so there are no signs of wear, except for some faint wear marks at the edges. In order to retain the original shape of the crystal as much as possible, these were not removed when the crystal was polished. The strap is brand new (Rios Shell Cordovan). The watch has been fully serviced, which means the movement has been completely dissembled and all parts have been cleaned and checked for wear. After cleaning, the movement has been assembled, lubricated and adjustments were made so ensure proper functioning and accuracy.
